present day Singapore women

Feeling: giddy
Playing: power 98

I wonder how many of you caught a glimpse of 'thesundytimes' dated 24 February 2008 with an article called "Love me, spoil me". It talked about Singapore women today and what they expect of their men.

I will be picking up some parts and talk about it so, let's move on...

"Whether shopgirl or career gal, these Miss Independents turn into pampered princesses who expect the mere male of the species - as they view him - to be at their beck and call"

Sometimes, I think it's partly the guy's fault for spoiling the girl. *grins* At the same time, I pity the guy who tries so hard to win that girl's heart and got treated like this. Come on guys! Be a man, you are worth more than what she views you sometimes.

---

"The survey found that they expect their men to pay for their dates, deposit them safely home afterwards, initiate celebrations and dress up on special occasions, meet them at least twice a week, open doors to cars and restaurants and - oh - some even expect guys to carry their handbags for them."

'pay for their dates' - I don't mind sharing.

'deposit them safely home' - It depends where he lives, how close we are, our mode of transport.

'initiate celebrations' - once in a while, surprise the girl, cannot meh? I thought guys like to plan... DUH! Besides, when a guy plans it, it makes the girl happy for a million years. When a girl plans it, it makes the guy happy for only a minute.

'dress up on special occasions' - of cos! It's for your own good. Don't complain cos most guys usually don't have sense of fashion or style or know how to weigh the importance of an occasion. Meeting the CEO of your company isn't counted as "special occasions" in our (girls') books.

'open doors' - BASIC COURTESY! Yes, so what if girls look more fragile at this point of time?! Shame on you if a girl holds the door for you! Tsk tsk...

'Carry their handbags' - NO WAY! Hello? Your own handbag, carry yourself larh! Unless you say you have million kilos in it then of cause, that's a perfect excuse to get your guy to carry it for you, otherwise, NO! It's a personal thing, you should always take care of your bag yourself.

---

"Women set standards selectively,' he says. 'In certain areas, they want us to perform to their expectations. Yet at other times, they want to have their say. They are sending mixed signals and they confuse us sometimes."

This explains why women are highly complex. It's the way we are made. Nature. God given.

---

"No matter how financially independent a woman is, ultimately, most would want to know that the guy is willing to provide for them should there be a need. Hence, seemingly small things like opening doors and paying during dates are tell-tale signs of their future to many women,"

See, even though some women can be more capable than their men, have all these little gestures helps you win her over more... to put it more straight forward, if you show your date that you can't even do such a simple task like opening the doors for her, you think she will feel secure? Remember how you guys think we are fragile if we can't even open doors? same, you can't open your own doors, means you are fragile = WEAK. How to protect us? How to make us feel safe and secure?
